Chris Desiatnyk

artist + illustrator

My goal first and foremost is to make it in the world of graphic novels and illustration. I want to become a brand. I want to always be evolving. I want to push the limit of what is expected of me, of what I can do. I want to be excited and challenged every time I pick up the pencil. I want to fail, only to try again and succeed.

The Watchmen

posted in News | Add comments

Saw The Watchmen yesterday, and have got to say that it was amazing. If you’re a fan of the graphic novel, go check it out. If you’re a fan of comic inspired movies, go check it out. If you’re a fan of movies, go check it out.

The bar has been raised.

Okay… So not exactly weekly.

posted in News | Add comments

Alright, so it didn’t take me long to not live up to my word of posting a new blog every week. I’m sure anyone who knows me isn’t surprised. Luckily no one actually reads this thing, so I didn’t have to worry about anyone calling me out.

I’ve added a new folder: 2009, as well as a few new pinups. Be on the look out for more.

Keep your eyes peeled, the t-shirts are on the way (I swear). I think you’re going to like the designs. They’re simple, but pretty cool (I’m a little biased).

A quick note to anyone who messages me about doing some work for them: please leave me your contact information. I can’t work for you if I don’t know who you are.

Oh, and if you like Chris Cornell or Timbaland check out Chris Cornell’s new album “Scream”. It’s good times.

Holiday Season is over… finally!

posted in News | Add comments

Happy Ukrainian Christmas to all my Ukrainian comrads who celebrated yesterday.

With yesterdays delicious feast consumed the holiday season is officially over for this guy. I guess that means one thing: back to reality.

The first thing I’m going to get off the ground this year is the t-shirt line. I’ve been yapping about it since last summer and am yet to put anything out. The designs are pretty much completed, I’m just looking for the best deal and quality of t-shirt I can find. Soon.

Other than that I’m just going to continue adding to the portfolio and hopefully get to work on some actual stories to either be put out independently or as web comics. If you, or someone you know, need some pencils done you know who to call.

Till next week.

Happy New Year

posted in News | Add comments

So, for obvious reasons, this past week wasn’t exactly the most productive. I didn’t really get anything done except for some drinking and a lot of visiting.

It was nice seeing everyone, and I was glad that we all got a chance to catch up. We’re going to have a lot more to talk about next time. 09 is a fresh start and this time it’s going to be done properly.

All the best in the new year.

Blog #1

posted in News | Add comments

Okay, so basically I’ve never blogged before, and you know what, who cares?

I’m going to attempt to write something new every week. Most of the time it’s going to be useless information about what I’m working on, what I’ve completed, and hopefully what you (you being the one or two people who ever actually read this thing) should be on the look out for. I’m sure I’ll occasionally write about a sweet movie I’ve seen (The Spirit on December 25th) or some music that I’m bumping that week (the new Common album, and Christmas tunes {I’m a geek}). The biggest reason I want to start writting this weekly is to hold myself more accountable. Everyone who’s known me for any length of time knows that I talk a big game, but rarely back it up.

Anyways, enough about nothing, I’ve gotta go do some drawing.

Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, Kwanza and everything else you may be celebrating.

A big thank you

The response to the web site since its inception has been phenomenal. Thank you all for the positive and constructive feed back. I’ve been thrilled with the amount of commissions I have received over the last month. It’s been nice to be given the opportunity to stretch my creative muscles.
