Nintendo certainly know how to please their followers. Long ago on the old Gameboy Color, the games Pokemon Gold and Silver dominated the market. To be sure, the titles are so well-liked that they’re still being enjoyed  these days as cult offerings. This said, Nintendo are trying to build on the success of those games by crafting remakes on their popular DS family. Step forward Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver.

The first great highlight presented in Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver is that gamers can sync their new title to any previous Diamond, Pearl or Platinum titles they already have on the DS. This implies  users will keep all the obscure and special Pokemon they tried so hard to seek out on previous installments.  And you’ll definitely want them all, as this game offers up virtually twice as many gym arenas as in the earlier installments, expanding the game considerably.

This game is good fan service to all the steadfast Pokemon collectors out there, and retains some of  the most effective parts from earlier titles. Classic audio tracks are included in Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver bringing back nostalgic tunes from the earliest Pokemon titles, together with vast regions you may recognise but that offer fresh tasks.

However, Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver isn’t all about bringing back old features. The visuals and  audio have obviously been vastly improved since the Gameboy color era, and Pokemon has never looked this great. Running on the same engine as Platinum, the game impresses even more with some glorious fully animated fighting scenes.

If you’re even remotely a Pokemon follower, this title is good for you. It brings together all the most popular and much-loved elements of previous installments and adds a little magic in the shape of improved visuals and extra features to form an excellent experience. Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver is an absolute must for fans of the series, and is certain to get a brand new generation hooked too!
